Paris Dispute Resolution Day | 1st edition: “The economics of conflict”

We were delighted to support the first ever Paris Dispute Resolution Day, held on December 2 under the patronage of the Ministry of Justice.
Corinne Vallery-Masson, Maxime de Guillenchmidt, Thomas Amico, and Caroline Gérault represented the firm at this exceptional event, which brought together the entire business litigation community.
The numerous informal discussions, round tables, and conferences, bringing together magistrates, lawyers, legal directors, academics, regulators, and economic actors, provided an opportunity to address the most significant contemporary challenges in dispute resolution.

Highlights of the day:
— Opening speeches by Patrick Sayer, President of the Paris Economic Court, and Pierre Hoffman, President of the Paris Bar Association, reminding us that openness and cooperation are central to the appeal of our legal system.
— A speech by Laurent Fabius, former President of the Constitutional Council and former Prime Minister, on “The evolution of supreme courts in the geopolitics of litigation.”
On this occasion, he recalled the growing importance of law in international balances and the structuring role of courts, arbitration, and dispute resolution actors in power balances and global governance.
— Erik Orsenna’s speech, rich in insights from his career within our institutions, from the Presidency of the Republic to the Council of State and the Académie Française. It was also an opportunity for him to emphasize the need for both courts and businesses to take ecological imperatives into account, reminding us that ecology cannot be solely punitive.
