Veil Jourde “Philosophy Mornings” | 5th edition: Justice & Mediation, the law put to the test of dialogue

New edition of the Veil Jourde’s “Philosophy Mornings”, with David Simonetta, associate professor of philosophy, on the theme “Mediation & Justice: the right to dialogue put to the test.”

Together with him, we explored the philosophical and historical foundations of mediation, a discipline emblematic of our postmodern societies, which has developed as a critique of law and justice, at the crossroads of psychology and social sciences.

During his presentation, David Simonetta questioned the growing presence of mediators in all areas of our contemporary societies.

Law and justice are no exception: mediation is proving to be a response to a strong social demand, marked by the desire to move beyond legal expertise in favor of a reappropriation of conflicts by the individuals themselves.

In this sense, mediation not only helps to avoid judicial violence, but also offers litigants the opportunity to regain full control over their disputes.

We would like to thank David Simonetta for this fascinating new session, as well as all our guests for their valuable contributions, which enriched this morning of discussion and dialogue.
