Economic public law and competition law
- Headed by Pierre-Alain Jeanneney, a former member of the French supreme administrative court and former managing director of the French Telecommunications Regulator, our economic public law and competition law department has cross-expertise in European law, administrative law, constitutional law and competition law. Although this department has been created as recently as in 2003, it is ranked among the best in the profession for its excellence and reputation.
- The department assists both challengers that wish to enter a monopoly or regulated market, and major state-owned companies, regulatory authorities, government agencies or local municipalities.
- The department, which is very cognizant of the issues triggered by the regulation of network companies, commonly intervenes in the following sectors: electronic communications, posts, energy (electricity and gas), audiovisual media, land, air and sea transport, entertainment, sports and games, banking and finance.
- The department's primary activity consists in advising clients in non-contentious situations.
- A practice in economic public law and competition law cannot exist without a fast-acting litigation capacity. More than in any other specialty, litigation is both useful as a tactical weapon and as a source for newly binding law principles. Thanks to its dual business and public culture, Veil Jourde has one of the most effective strike forces in the area.
