Veil Jourde supports the production of and is a partner in the distribution of the film Francesca and Giovanni.
The film recounts the story that brought together Francesca Morvillo, one of the few female magistrates in 1970s Italy, and Judge Giovanni Falcone, a key figure and martyr in the fight against the Sicilian Mafia. It fully upholds the values essential to the stability of our democracies, both yesterday and today: courage, integrity, independence, respect, and the protection of the rule of law.
At the premiere held on April 28 at the Les 5 Caumartin cinema, directed by Francesca Pesce, our partner Jean Veil had the pleasure of introducing the film alongside Ricky Tognazzi and Simona Izzo, the directors; Ester Pantano, the actress; and Stefano Palombari, representing the association L’Italie à Paris.
On this occasion, he forcefully emphasized that targeting those who contribute to the work of justice, regardless of their cause, is tantamount to striking at the very heart of the nation and the state.
Defending justice therefore requires constant vigilance and solidarity.
Following the screening, a roundtable discussion was held between the directors, the lead actress, and Maxime de Guillenchmidt, our litigation partner, who notably highlighted the parallels between the anti-mafia struggle in Italy and France. He also emphasized the role of supporting juvenile offenders, an essential contribution made by Francesca Morvillo in this area alongside her husband.
We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all the participants and organizers for the success of this evening, as well as to Valentine Levy, the film’s distributor and agent for France.
The film will be released on June 3; we strongly encourage you to see it in theaters!
